IDT Final Project: Update #4

I have completed the project and provided the lesson to learners; below is my final project:

Title of the Activity:
Training Regarding how to utilize PBworks to for collaborative learning regarding enabling Microsoft Lync Phone for Enterprise Users.
Concept / Topic for your Learners:
Utilizing PBworks to Create Collaborative Knowledge Base Documents.
General Goal(s):
Utilize Wiki to Create Collaborative Knowledge Base Documents.
Specific Learning Outcomes:
Given a computer and access to PBworks, learners will be able to recollect how to create a collaborative workspace with at least three pages this includes an introduction, instruction, and discussion page. Learners will identify functionality in PBworks that will enable them to invite users with Writer Permissions. Learners will be able to create, execute, and organize a collaborative knowledge based instruction on the instruction page. They will also be able to create a constructive open-ended discussion on the discussion page; communication on this page will be clear and effective.
Characteristics of your Learners:
Learners know how to operate laptops and have experience utilizing collaborative software, accessing ESC VoIP Coordinators SharePoint site, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Lync Server, Remote Desktop Connection, and Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. Learners have excellent verbal, written, and non-verbal communication skills. They have excellent reading, visual literacy, and comprehension skills. The learners are approximately 25 to 50 years of age. They have good excellent hand eye coordination, and dexterity throughout all their peripherals. The cohort shall are motivated to work with technology, learn new skills, and collaborate. They place care in building and maintain relationships, respect authority, and cooperate with others.
Required Materials, including Web 2.0 tools or sites:
Learners shall have access to a laptop with wireless networking capabilities so they can utilize the internet to access PBworks. Learners are also required to access ESC VoIP Coordinators SharePoint site, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Lync Server, Remote Desktop Connection, and Microsoft Exchange Server. Prior to the lesson learners were sent an e-mail with an invitation to the instructors PBworks workspace called howtoenablemicrosoftlyncphone.pbworks.com. In the workspace the learners have access to the Class Materials folder where they can access the Lesson Agenda, PBworks Instruction, How to Enable Microsoft Lync Phone Instruction, Welcome to Instruction Regarding PBworks and Enabling Microsoft Lync Phone, Assessment, and Discussion pages. Prior to the assessment learners will be e-mailed a rubric and the first part of the assessment which is a 5 question matching assessment. The second part of the assessment requires learners to create a PBworks workspace. After the assessment is complete, the instructor will send learners an e-mail with a course evaluation attached to the correspondence; learners are required to complete the course evaluation. The first part of the assessment and evaluation needs to be completed and sent back to the instructor during the allotted time.
Introduction to the Activity:
At work my team, ESC VoIP Coordinators are looking for applications and/or software that will help create collaborative knowledge base documents. The reason my team is sourcing such technology is because we implement and trouble shoot phones, soft phones, and voicemails; many of the systems get updated often; therefore, we need applications and/or software that will enable us to collaborate through discussion, identify who created changes, and have a centralized location for documentation. I will invite learners to a Wiki I have created in PBworks called How to Enable Microsoft Lync Phone. In the Wiki, I will provide learners instruction demonstration regarding the functionality of PBworks and how to enable Microsoft Lync Phones. I have created a Class Materials folder; this is where the instruction and discussion is located; all the pertinent information will be provided to the learners in scheduled demonstrations. I will facilitate discussion and require interaction amongst students. I will also require learners to perform group work where they will collaborate to create a new workspace that has instruction and discussion embedded. When instruction is complete, learners are required to complete a one-hour assessment; then, learners will be sent an e-mail with an evaluation of the course; feedback is required.

Additional Comments:
Conclusion:
All learners were very enthused and motivated to learn. I did have to modify my learning strategy because one learner was learning very quickly and the other learner was learning very slowly. Therefore, I enabled one learner to move ahead in the instruction while I worked with the other learner to help identify tabs, pages, and additional resources. This lesson was designed to give learners an instruction how to utilize PBworks for collaborative knowledge base documents; I also provided them instruction how to enable Microsoft Lync. By providing instruction for both, learners where able to identify how PBworks may be applicable for ESC VoIP Coordinators in the workplace. When I completed the demonstration, I facilitated discussion; then, I let learners work together in groups to collaborate and create a PBworks workspace. Through collaborative learning and the discussion, learners become active participants who realized the possibilities of utilizing PBworks for creating collaborative knowledge documents in the work place environment. Overall, both learners passed the assessments and were very pleased with the lesson; they also indicated they would utilize PBworks in the workplace in the near future.
Other items as needed:
The instructor and all learners utilized standardized HP EliteBook laptops with Microsoft Windows 7 operating systems and Microsoft Office 2013.
